The Buffalo Sabres will retire the jersey of goaltender Dominik Hasek next season. Hasek was the fifth and final player to wear No. 39 in a Sabres uniform and he will become the seventh player in franchise history to have a number retired. The Sabres are set to induct Hasek into the franchises Hall of Fame on Saturday. Hasek was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer of 1992, and went on to become one of the premier players in the NHL until the end of the decade. Upon his departure from the Sabres in 2001, he owned the club records for most games played (491), wins (234), shutouts (55) and lowest career goals-against average (2.22). During the 1997-98 season, he appeared in a career-high 72 games and set a team record with 13 shutouts, then led to the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in the spring of 1999 after a season in which he had a career-best 1.87 GAA. The Czech native, while with the Sabres, became the first goaltender in NHL history to win the Hart Trophy in back-to-back seasons (1997-98). He also captured six Vezina Trophies (1994-95, 1997-99 and 2001) as well as the William M. Jennings Trophy (1994, 2001) and the Lester B. Pearson Award twice (1997, 98). Seven of his 10 All-Star selections occurred while he starred for Buffalo. He went on to win a pair of Stanley Cup titles for Detroit in four seasons with the Red Wings and also played for Ottawa. The Sabres previously retired the No. 11 of Gilbert Perreault in 1990, Rick Martins No. 7 and Rene Roberts No. 14 in 1995, the No. 2 of Tim Horton in 1996, Danny Gares No. 18 in 2005 and Pat LaFontaines No. 16 in 2006. Kyrie Irving Jersey . Patrice Bergeron and Daniel Paille scored 20 seconds apart a few minutes after Stamkos was taken off the ice on a stretcher with a broken right leg, and the Bruins beat the Lightning 3-0 on Monday afternoon. Larry Bird Jersey . Raonic, the No. 8 seed from Thornhill, Ont., fired 11 aces and did not have a double-fault as he comfortably advanced to the third round at the Masters Series event. http://www.celticsofficialssto.....cs-jersey/ . PETERSBURG, Fla. Greg Monroe Jersey . The Brazilian-born strikers brace drew him level with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo as the leagues leading scorers with 17 goals apiece through 16 rounds. "The important thing is to help the team win, not the goals," Diego Costa said. After a first half dominated by defence, Atletico pressed Valencia into its area and Diego Costa did the rest. Red Auerbach Jersey . After losing a shutout bid in the dying seconds of Sundays win over the Colorado Avalanche, Luongo would not be denied against the punchless Oilers and is now just one back of Patrick Roy for 14th on the all-time list.WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama says hed be pretty aggravated if he were a Detroit Lions fan after the team lost an NFL playoff game to the Dallas Cowboys after a disputed penalty call. But since hes a long-suffering fan of his hometown Chicago Bears, Obama says he cant have too much sympathy for the Lions. The Bears had a losing season and missed the playoffs.Obama told The Detroit News in an interview Tuesday that he couldnt remember a case in which a referees good call was reversed without explanation.Detroit was ahead 20-17 midway through the fourth quarter of Sundays game when a referee flagged the Cowboys for pass interference. But officials rescinded the call moments later, leaving the Lions facing fourth-and-1. Detroit punted, and Dallas then drove to the winning touchdown for a 24-20 final score.Obama said he watched the game and told the newspaper that he couldnt remember a circumstannce in which a good call by one of the refs is argued about by an opposing player of the other team with his helmet off on the field, which in and of itself is supposed to be a penalty.dddddddddddd The call is announced and then reversed without explanation. I havent seen that before. So I will leave it up to the experts to make the judgment as to why that happened, but I can tell you if I was a Lions fan Id be pretty aggravated.Obama was interviewed before his scheduled visit to the Ford Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan, on Wednesday to tout a resurgent U.S. auto industry following the federal bailout. In the interview, the president also lamented the poor performance of his hometown Bears.Given the performance of my Bears, I cant have too much sympathy for the Lions, Obama said. You guys were in a lot better position than we were. Id love to have your defence right now.
